MONITOR YOUR TONE AROUND NEGATIVE LEADERS

Attitude works like a good catchphrase because it is contagious. People are influenced by leaders whether good or bad. It is hard to ignore someone who leads with an explosive tone. Once it’s prominent people will start to adapt to behaviors they once denounced. If you don’t have the option to move away from that environment, or if you can’t help that person, come up with some techniques to monitor yourself. If you are not careful, you will treat everyone around you as though you are on the job in a hostile environment. I’ve seen this with people in the prison system. Because they work with individuals who need help with toxic behaviors, they treat most people outside the prison walls as if they are behind bars. They are not able to detach themselves from that negative environment that brews negative communication hence their good manners are hacked. So, if you are working in a job or with a leader who condones the wrong tone, guess what, if you don’t monitor your attitude, you will take it home like groceries.
