SYNERGY, The Sixth Habit SummaryAccording to Stephen Covey, synergy says the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It brings everything together because the individual is not greater than the team. You could slash all four tires on a car and it becomes useless until you replace them. It’s the same with us and our gifts. Yes, we can produce some results individually but collectively, synergy allows us to amalgamate our gifts to produce mega results. So I’ve learnt that synergy is the binding ingredient that holds the cake together. It brings unity. This unity welcomes our differences and suffocates our weaknesses. Here’s a practical example, when a man decides to start a family he has to find the opposite gender, a wife, who is different to help accomplish his goals. It will take synergy to produce a child. It will take synergy to expand the family, and it will take synergy to hold the family together. In a nutshell, the dominant purpose of the book is to get us away from dependence to adopt interdependence. Somebody said it best that synergy, the 6th habit, is the habit of cooperation.
