Occupy Wall Street celebrated its second anniversary on September 17. When it was fresh, it mobilized a large group of people until it lost momentum. Even though the movement became subdued, we humans have never ceased to exist. We’ve been “occupying” earth ever since our first slap. If that was the last time the universe heard your voice, get up and “Roar” again like Katy Perry. If you want to improve your communication skills, “Get up” like James Brown. Somebody said, “The best way to learn a language is to use it.” The best way to improve is to speak. Despite where you are, speak to the mirror and Stacy’s mom to develop your speaking muscle because your ladder is leaning on the right wall of success. When I coach, I often say even if you’re shy just look at the foreheads. Oprah Winfrey said it best, “Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but we will take the bus with you.” That’s my intent. I had the desire to swim but was afraid to learn. One day I bumped into my father by the river who thrust me in. I screamed but no one heard. He looked and laughed. As I relaxed and moved my hands, I did what I’ve seen others do breaststrokes. I was swimming with the sharks. So you see, friends, to develop the speaking muscle, you have to start the process one way or the other. Do it now!
